defalsif-AI

Detection of false information by Artificial Intelligence

The defalsif-AI project addresses the problem of disinformation - colloquially known as “fake news” – in particular disinformation considered in the context of an attack to critical infrastructure, where the critical infrastructure in question is democracy and the public trust in democracy and its institutions itself. The project focuses on research in the areas of audio-visual media forensics, text analysis and the multimodal fusion of these with the support of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning methods. A principal focus of this research is in enhancing the  comprehensibility and interpretability of the results for non-experts in the forensic/technical field. The aim of the project is to develop a proof-of-concept (PoC) tool for the analysis of digital content on the Internet, which enables an initial assessment of credibility/authenticity on a variety of sources (text, image, video, audio). This will provide the basis for further recommended actions. A comprehensive analysis and assessment of the media-forensic tool from a legal and  social science perspective, the derivation of application-oriented, technical and organizational  measures for future legally compliant implementation and execution of disinformation analysis platforms, as well as an exploitation plan complete the project.
